Tree planting at the farm!

Our farm has received funding to support the goal of adding trees to the landscape and we need volunteer planters! This tree planting initiative helps to increase biodiversity, creates windbreaks and decreases soil erosion, sequesters carbon and adds to the beauty of our landscape! We have 1034 trees ready to go in the ground- the area has been tilled, compost has been spread and wood chips will be available to lay around each tree. Digging will be very easy because of the loose soil so we just need keen volunteers with shovels to help with the planting!

Where: Roots and Shoots Farm

When: Friday, October 1st, 2021 from 9am to 4pm

Things to bring: Hat, closed-toe shoe or boots, warm clothes long pants and shirt, gloves, rain gear if necessary, water bottle, lunch/snacks and especially a (labelled!) shovel. We will have coffee, tea and a sweet treat at the noon hour

This is a nice opportunity to get outside, have some exercise and connect with the farm all the while making a permanent and positive mark on the land. It's a beautiful time of year and the weather looks great this Friday!

Please RSVP by replying to this email .

***When you arrive*** please park along the fence, just beside our "JARDIN DES MASHAM" sign, where our employees park. We will gather outside the farm store at 9am and make our way to the tree planting spot

If you are showing up later, you can make your way to our farm-store area and someone will direct you where to find the planting crew

Thanks everyone!
