What is happening at the farm?
The most exciting thing that happened this week was our very first corn harvest! It was a small one and the ears are lets just say at a "delicacy" size... Really sweet and tasty and cute/small!
We also had our first harvest of fresh onions and the big harvest of storage onions is fast approaching.
Still lots of weeding, harvesting and seeding going on every week...
In other news, Colleen is back in the kitchen prepping food for you all! She made another batch of chilero and pickles. they will be ready for you in a couple weeks. We can't wait for all that lacto-fermented goodness!
This month also happens to be vacation month for most of our staff, so for whoever wants a taste of farmlife, you can join us on Fridays for volunteer day! See below for details:

Farm store and what is available this week
Corn! Small and tasty! $6/dozen
And finally some peppers! Our apologies for the wait and anticipation. We were eager to harvest peppers though a mishap with a battery in the greenhouse resulted in the greenhouse turning into a sauna and needless to say the pepper plants weren't too pleased... Not to fret though! Many have bounced back from their tropical "holiday" and are finally producing fruit!
Currants!! Come pick your own or buy from the farm store. This is probably the last week for them.
We also have new gorgeous lisianthus flowers and mixed flowers available in the farm store and online for CSA members to add to their weekly order.
Farmstore:

Weekly farm fun fact!
Caraflex cabbage is a favourite of ours! It is a tendersweet variety so it is perfect for coleslaw and it becomes very sweet and tender when roasted! Quarter, brush with oil, add salt and pepper and roast at 350 until the tips caramelize and your fork goes through easily. It will melt in your mouth!
